Hurricane Warning

Attention Rhinebeckers!
Tropical Storm Henri has increased in intensity and is now a Hurricane. In anticipation of the heavy rains Sunday afternoon, Crystal Lake will be lowered to reduce the impact of flooding to areas near the Landsman Kill.

Currently the intensity of the storm is moderate to high with winds gusting between 10 and 30 mph. The worst conditions are likely during the afternoon on Sunday. Please continue to prepare for the effects of this storm in our area and the possibility of being without power.

I’ll paste the latest information from Dutchess County below. Stay safe!

TROPICAL STORM HENRI UPDATE for DUTCHESS COUNTY

Based on the latest information obtained through communication with the National Weather Service. The National Weather Service is expected to issue a Flash Flood Watch for Dutchess County this evening in anticipation of Tropical Storm rainfall associated with Tropical Storm Henri. Tropical Storm associated rainfall is expected to impact Dutchess County tomorrow morning (Sunday) at approximately 8am and continue through 8pm. Rainfall expectations are anywhere from 2-5 inches to 4-6 inches. Due to ground saturation, localized flooding is expected. Due to possible downstream storm surge, and full moon tidal conditions, Hudson River flooding is possible. Dutchess County Emergency Management is actively monitoring this forecast and will continue to provide information, as it is received, to our Chief Elected Officials and partners. Additional forecasts are expected between 5pm and 7pm.
