Planning Board

Our Charter

The Village Planning Board is charged with enforcing the Village zoning and historic preservation laws. To this end, it reviews site plans, special permits, subdivisions, and signs. Requests are approved or denied based on the board’s interpretation of the Village zoning and historic preservation code (see the Historic District page). Variance requests are referred to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Planning Board members are appointed by the Village Board of Trustees and serve five-year terms.​

Meetings: 

Village Planning Board meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 7:00pm. Normally, these are held in the Village Hall located at 76 East Market Street, Rhinebeck, NY 12572. During COVID, the Zoom link and agenda is shared prior via the Meetings calendar.

How to get on the Planning Board Agenda

A complete application must be submitted to the planning and zoning clerk with appropriate fee the Tuesday a week before the meeting. Planning submission documents must be provided on paper.

If a resident has any questions or desires to address a member, you can submit those comments in writing to the clerk, and the clerk will provide them to the Chair, board member, board, etc.
