Village Comprehensive Plan
On September 24, 2024, the Village of Rhinebeck Board of Trustees adopted our new Village Comprehensive Plan. This 3-year effort completely overhauled the previous plan from 1993, and created a roadmap for land use planning for the next 10-20 years. Now we need you to help the Board of Trustees in its mandate!
On April 8, 2025, the Village Board dissolved the Comprehensive Plan Committee and created the Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee (see Resolution #04082025-01). We are now looking for the members of our community who are willing and available to help the Board identify opportunities and ensure ongoing community engagement as the Village advances the goals of the Plan. The Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee (CPIC) adds capacity and creativity to specific initiatives, supports alignment with the Plan’s vision, and helps identify resources that expand what the Board has capacity to do on its own. We are particularly looking for folks with experience in project management and skill with spreadsheets as well as those with strong community engagement/communications backgrounds.
Familiarity with the Plan (see below) is required. Hard copies are available for review at Village Hall and the Starr Library.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out this survey. If you are curious about the various roles available, please take a look at the Participation Overview. If you have any questions, please email Trustee Lydia Slaby.
Implementing our Comprehensive Plan is a long-term effort that will unfold over many years. The Village Board is actively engaging with interested volunteers, and once we’ve built a strong base of community involvement, we will begin appointing members to the CPIC. Thank you so much for being willing to help Rhinebeck be a vibrant and resilient community for everyone for years to come.
On April 7, 2025 the Village was honored to be awarded Best Comprehensive Plan by the New York Planning Federation. This is an extraordinary testament to the hard work of our community to create this remarkable document. Bravo!
