Our Charter
The Village Board of Trustees is composed of the Mayor and four Trustees, each elected for two-year terms. Each member of the board can be appointed to serve as a liaison to a focus area to support the Mayor. Typically these focus areas are reported in various aspects/projects at the monthly meetings.
The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the Village and also serves as the Chief of Police, and oversees the Village Fire Department. The Village Clerk and Treasurer are appointed by the Mayor. In addition there are several Civil Service appointments that report to the Mayor, Superintendent of Public Works, Zoning Administrator and Building Inspector.
The Village operates a Justice Court, Police Department, Fire Department, and Maintenance Department, as well as Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Facilities.
Trustees have responsibilities to approve and authorize budgets, adopt a wide range of local laws to address Village concerns and act as liaison on the Village approved committees.
