Lydia Slaby Appointed to Board of Trustees

Mayor Gary Bassett has announced today October 2, 2020, that Lydia Hill Slaby was appointed to fill the vacant seat of Trustee for the Village of Rhinebeck.

Lydia will take over the responsibilities of the liaison to the Building-Planning-Zoning Board. She had previously held the position as an alternate on the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Lydia Slaby is a writer, speaker, and consultant focused on empowering people, communities, and organizations faced with daunting change. Formerly, she worked as a corporate lawyer in Chicago focused on bankruptcy and restructuring. Prior to that, she served Governor Patrick in Massachusetts as Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Finance where she oversaw the state’s response to failing cities and towns. She has served as chairperson, treasurer, or advisor for nonprofit organizations that focus on young adult cancer, women’s empowerment, the environment, and storytelling for over fifteen years. She has covered most of the world in her travels, studied urban design at Harvard, holds a BA with honors in Urban Studies and Business Economics from Brown University, and is a graduate of Northwestern University’s JD-MBA program. She is the author of Wait, It Gets Worse, her well-regarded memoir, and lives in Rhinebeck, NY with her husband and two adorable cats, swimming and baking her way through writer's block.
