Memorializing Lives Lost to COVID-19
On Tuesday night, the Village of Rhinebeck participated in a national moment of unity and remembrance for the 400,000 Americans that were victims of COVID-19. At 5:30pm, local sirens and church bells sounded out as lights illuminated the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, DC. It was the first-ever lighting around the Reflecting Pool to memorialize American lives lost.
Our Village of Rhinebeck police, fire, and EMS services have been at the forefront to the response to our local COVID-19 crisis. Standing inside the Fire Department at the time of remembrance were Firefighter Ryan Ferber, Mayor Gary Bassett, Deputy Mayor Ric Lewit, Firefighter Thomas Beichert, Trustee Brant Neuneker and Trustee Vanessa Bertozzi.
