Rhinebeck’s Comprehensive Plan Wins Statewide Award

The Village Board is excited to share some wonderful news: the Village of Rhinebeck’s 2024 Comprehensive Plan has been named Best Comprehensive Plan by the New York Planning Federation! The award was announced at their annual conference on April 7, and it’s a huge honor that recognizes all the thoughtful, community-driven work that went into this plan.

Over nearly three years, more than 1,000 of you participated in shaping this vision—through public meetings, workshops, surveys, and conversations. The result? A bold, detailed roadmap for our village’s future that prioritizes what we all care about most: walkability, housing affordability, climate resilience, vibrant local businesses, and preserving the historic charm that makes Rhinebeck so special.

Here’s what stood out to the NYPF: our plan’s strong foundation in public input, its clear and actionable strategies, and the fact that it truly reflects our community’s values. In their words, Rhinebeck’s plan “embodies the principles of thoughtful, inclusive, and forward-thinking planning” and lays “the foundation for a sustainable and prosperous future.”

This award belongs to all of us—residents, volunteers, and everyone who gave their time and energy to help imagine what Rhinebeck can be. I couldn’t be prouder of our village, and I’m so grateful for your continued engagement as we move from vision to action.
