Join the Comprehensive Plan Ecosystem
We all love this village, and we all want it to both grow and retain its character. To guide our growth and development, the Village of Rhinebeck has been relying on a land-use comprehensive plan last updated in 1993. Since then, much has changed in our wonderful village, and our holistic plan needs to be refreshed.
With that in mind, the Village created a new standing Comprehensive Plan Committee to be made up of up to 11 members with multiple subcommittees. Its first job is to update the 1993 plan and recommend zoning law changes to the Village Board. After that initial process is complete, we want it to remain an integral part of Village planning by making sure that our new comprehensive plan remains reflective of the village and its needs.
The Village Board appointed the first seven members of the main committee on January 11 to start the work, but we know we need to hear from you. We are now inviting everyone who would like to participate to let us know! We need this committee to reflect the entire village in all its diversity and hope to hear from and engage the broadest possible set of voices and perspectives. We would like to add four more members of the main committee, we need leaders and members for various subcommittees, and, in particular, at least one person trained in project management to help us get all of this work done in a transparent, thoughtful, and integrated way.
Interested? Please check out our webpage, read this fact sheet, and fill out this survey. In addition to the main committee and all the subcommittee work, we will be holding consistent listening sessions, open meetings, and reflecting back what we are hearing throughout the process beginning in the Spring. A full schedule of the Comprehensive Plan process will be published after our first complete committee meeting on February 17th.
