Local Food Pantries in Rhinebeck

School Breakfast and Lunch

Effective Tuesday morning, March 17, 2020, the Rhinebeck school district will be providing free student breakfast and lunch from Mondays to Fridays, on school days while schools are closed under the Dutchess County State of Emergency Declaration. These meals are available for the Rhinebeck school students in those families requesting them. The meals are available to ALL Rhinebeck students, and NO payment is required.

In order to participate, we request that parents email the number of meals needed by 7:00 pm the evening before (but no later than 7:00 am the day of pickup) to the following email address: meals@rhinebeckcsd.org. In your message, please include the number of meals requested and the names of those students needing meals. Meal pickup for all students (CLS, BMS, and RHS) will be on a “grab and go” basis between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:30 am at Bulkeley Middle School/Rhinebeck High School in the student parking lot drop-off lane.

At this time, breakfast will consist of cereal, milk, fruit and juice. At this time, lunch will consist of a selection of a turkey, cheese, or peanut butter & jelly sandwich, salad boat, fruit and milk. We expect that there will be some changes to the menu going forward, which we will announce, depending on the school district’s food inventory and the supply chain availability. Please be ready to request your sandwich choice when you arrive for pick up or include your choice in your message if you are requesting delivery. Please let us know if your child has any food allergies.

If pick-up is not possible, please include that information in your email, including the delivery location. While we can’t guarantee delivery at this point, we will make every effort to provide delivery of those student meals, depending on the demand and the number of volunteers The

Episcopal Church of Messiah

The Food Pantry at the Episcopal Church of the Messiah will be distributing nonperishable food to anyone needing assistance during the current health crisis. The distribution at Messiah will begin this Saturday, March 21 st from 10am to 1pm in the church parking lot off Montgomery St, which can be accessed by the driveway between Scanlons Cleaners and Terrapin Restaurant. The address of the church is 6436 Montgomery St., Rhinebeck, NY 12572. We are set up to distribute food to people who have driven into the parking lot and then park. Volunteers will greet each car and ask simple questions regarding the size and needs of each family or individual. We have designed a distribution process that protects everyone from possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus while observing guidelines from the CDC regarding maintaining social distancing. No registration is necessary to receive food. The food distribution will be standardized with the size of the household being taken into consideration. The pantry will distribute food every Saturday from 10am to 1 pm until the crisis has passed and anyone is welcome to receive food who needs assistance. Questions regarding the food pantry can be directed to the parish office email at rhinebeck.episcopal@gmail.com.
