Village of Rhinebeck 2020-2021 Budget

The Village is legally required to adopt a budget for the fiscal year beginning June 1st. Therefore, in order to meet our deadlines, we have continued our work on the budget during this time. I wanted to give you an update on where we stand. CLICK HERE FOR BUDGET

The Village is heading into the future in strong financial shape. The 2020-2021 budget has no tax increase and is below the 1.78% tax cap. Meanwhile, we will continue our investments in paving roads and replacing old equipment as well as increased engineering for streetscape and updates in technology at Village Hall. These items will make our systems more efficient for our employees and officials, and our residents. We will continue our commitment to pursuing grants to pay for infrastructure improvements and historical preservation.

Another primary objective of ours is to make an investment in our employee wages and benefits, as well as a minor increase in compensation for the Board. These public servants are a critical asset to the Village, and their dedication has never been more evident than during our recent COVID19 crisis.

On that subject, the budget also contains an increase in our Contingency Fund in anticipation of possible unplanned expenses as we work to contain the virus.

We will be holding a public hearing on April 14th, which will be live streamed from Village Hall, and recorded on PANDA for those who wish to watch it there. Residents will be able to make comments and interact with the Board.
