Water Rate Increase

The Village Board approved an increase of Water rates from $6.00 per 1,000 gallons used to $7.00 per 1,000 gallons used. These new rates will go into effect on July 1, 2022, starting with Zone 1.

WHY DID THE WATER RATE INCREASE?

Water & Sewer rates are evaluated each year by the Village Board and periodically adjusted to ensure that revenues received from users of the systems are sufficient to cover the cost to operate and maintain the system and complete budgeted capital improvements. The water rates have not been increased since 2006 and currently a rate study is being performed.

The Village of Rhinebeck provides safe, clean drinking water and dedicated to keeping rates affordable by maintaining lean staffing and using reserves when necessary. However, the following costs continue to rise including (1) overall operational costs, (2) maintaining and enhancing infrastructure to provide reliable and safe water, and (3) building or maintaining adequate financial reserves for emergencies and future needs.

Additionally, the Village of Rhinebeck is committed to seeking any available State or Federal funding that will provide funding for line replacement as well as other future infrastructure improvements

LANDLORDS, PLEASE NOTIFY YOUR TENANTS OF THE INCREASE IF THEY PAY THE BILL.
