Marijuana Survey Results

The Village Board ran a survey in order to hear your perspectives on whether the Village Board should vote to allow or disallow marijuana dispensaries and/or lounges. Thank you to all who took the time to fill out the survey and express your points of view. The survey is now closed, and as promised, we’re sharing the results here.

Please keep in mind that the Village Board is taking the survey results into consideration along with many other inputs including public forums, public comment, and other research. The survey was not an official vote (it was in fact anonymous, so the results are not verifiable as one-person-one-vote or necessarily Village voters).

We had 763 surveys submitted.

64% said YES to dispensaries

53% said NO to lounges

There were 260 comments submitted. Trustee Bertozzi reviewed each comment, looking for themes. 18 themes emerged. Every time another comment mentioned the same theme, it was given another tally. You can review these condensed themes, sorted most often mentioned to least at this link.

In this way, we have a sense of what people are thinking and their talking points, the range of ideas, and the patterns of thought.

You’re welcome to review the full 260 comments, which we’ve anonymized if they contained truly identifying information.

Word-clouds are not always that useful, but what do you notice? We notice "tourists" "residents" "parking" "revenue".
